Description
The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4k uses a miniature locking connector for its video output known catchily as DIN 1.0/2.3.
We call it ‘mini SDI’ internally here at 360 Designs, although technically this is incorrect. Essentially if you want to extract the full potential of your Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4k, you will want to get your hands on these adapter tails.
These 12 inch long adapters take the DIN 1.0/2.3, aka mini SDI, connector that is on the camera, and adapt it to a female BNC connector, which allows you to connect standard SDI cables to the camera. Both connections use locking connections. These are the only adapters we’ve found that reliably handle the 4k output of the Blackmagic Micro Studio Cameras.
With 4k SDI output from the camera, you can record uncompressed 4k 10 bit video, or feed the cameras into a live 360 stitching setup, allowing 6k 360 video. With SDI you can run the cameras 100 feet away, using fiber you can get to 2000 feet.
The same adapter tails (a second set) can be used to feed SDI control signals into the cameras, using the SDI In connection on the camera, such as from an ATEM controller. This allows you to do live color correction for a camera remotely, using a DaVinci Resolve style interface.
We include these adapter tails in our full Mini EYE™ package (w/ micro studio cameras). Typically you would purchase these if you are building your own Mini EYE™ 360 camera from individual parts, or you need spares/replacements.
